Unfortunately, our plans to perform the musical ‘Young Frankenstein’ this year have changed, and we have had to move it to 2026.
In the theatre world….Do you know what a Ghost Light is??
A Ghost Light is a bare lightbulb on a stand, which sits on the stage when the theatre is empty.
Ghost Lights are very simple, serving as a safety measure for anyone entering the dark space but they also carry a superstitious meaning of keeping the ‘theatre ghosts’ company.
BUT their meaning runs deeper…
During the COVID-19 pandemic, theatres were closed all around the world and the Ghost Light became a symbol of hope to artists during a time of darkness.
It also symbolises the enduring presence of the theatre’s community. It’s a promise that even if the stage is empty, the magic is still there, waiting to be rekindled.
Community theatre is all about belonging to a group with other like-minded individuals, which celebrates each person’s unique talent.
Why do you love community theatre?
What was the reason for getting involved?
Do you have a favourite number (song, dance or skit) that you would like to perform that celebrates why you love musical theatre?
Our 2025 show – ‘Ghost Light’ is a celebration of community theatre and why we love to be involved.
